2019 Year In Review

This year, Harmony Project grew in scope and in size! Our musicians traveled across the world to share the power of music with communities near and far. Here are some highlights from the past year.

DECEMBER 2018

California Hospital Performance

Alexandria program mentors organized a performance at California Hospital. From choosing the music to leading rehearsals, students were at helm and passionate about giving back to their community

FEBRUARY 2019

THE GRAMMY AWARDS

Alumni Leilani and Nicole got all-access passes to the 2019 Grammys, thanks to CBS!

APRIL 2019

Clippers Game

Alexandria’s advanced string ensemble performed the National Anthem at a Clippers game with Board Member Ramin Abrams

Seminario

Our most advanced students combined for a week-long camp, performing Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony and Prados Mambo Suit.

JULY 2019

SCOTLAND

Seven of Harmony Project’s most advanced students traveled with the LA Phil to Scotland as a part of the YOLA National Institute, performing side by side with peers from across the world and the LA Phil itself!

JULY 2018

HOWARD UNIVERSITY

Our Leimert Park students raised funding to visit and perform at Howard University.

 

SEPTEMBER 2018

CELEBRATE LA

Harmony Project students were featured at Celebrate LA, an eight-mile street party celebrating the LA Philharmonics Centennial

NOVEMBER 2018

CMA Singer/Songwriter Workshop

Alum Matthew M. was selected to receive all-access passes to 2019’s CMA Awards in Nashville, thanks to our partnership with CMA Foundation. He even gave a shout-out in People Magazine!

JANUARY 2019

NAMM PRESENTATION

Harmony Project staff presented to a packed room at the National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, CA, unveiling our newly adopted Academy of Young Conductors.

MARCH 2019

TUTTI TIMES

Mentors launched Tutti Times, a student-led and student-centered newspaper.

BACH MARATHON

We Took over the East Wing of Union Station, performing two hours of J.S Bach’s music in celebration of his birthday.

MAY 2019

PROM DRESS GIVEAWAY

Thanks to board member Jenifer Porter, Harmony Project hosted a prom dress giveaway in which every female high school senior was able to pick a prom dress and shoes of their choice.
